Starting my own bullet journal...

I've recently discovered a new art of organising my stuffs through bullet journal and ever since, I've really got into it. For a long time, I've been wanting to start physically noting things down but for some reason or another, I always found myself getting bored of it. If you also know this feeling, then you probably know what I am talking about.

But through bullet journalling, this has completely changed the way I feel about noting on paper. I came to know about this technique through a British youtuber called Lily Pepples when she talked about it on one of her videos and a blog post about starting her own bullet journal.

This system was originally created by a guy called Ryder Carroll who’s a digital product designer living in Brooklyn. His aim was to provide us with a guide of how to note things down and to be more organised. I quickly drew interest towards it and started doing more research. I first read Ryder's article but honestly, I found it a bit overwhelming and difficult to grasp. So I looked for videos about it on YouTube. I then found Boho Berry and Mariana's videos on how they started their own bullet journal. This really got me excited to start my own.

I first started looking for good notebooks available and I eventually bought the Moleskine A5 Notebook which you can find in any bookcourt in Mauritius for around Rs. 800. I wanted one that I can easily fit in my bag and I can carry around with me. The hard cover prevents the notebook from scratching which was my main concern. This one is slightly on the pricy side but its quality is all worth it. The Moleskine notebook has lined papers which I prefer since it helps me to keep my writings neat.

I have been using it for almost 2 months now and I can say that it has helped me to become more organised. I am currently doing my degree in uni and as some of you will know, with the amount of work to be done it's sometimes hard to keep up and you might find yourself stressed and not knowing from where to start. Previously, I've found myself so overwhelmed that I've missed some deadlines which is really frustrating. But ever since I have started my bullet journal, I find myself more organised which helps me have a clearer mind. So I would really recommend this to those currently studying and those that always have things going on in their lives which they don't want to miss.

For better understanding of how it works, do check out the YouTubers i mentioned above as I find that the YouTube videos available have already done a pretty good job explaining it. Also, the steps listed on Ryder's blog are easy to follow. Some pictures of my bullet journal are shown below which will help you get a better idea of the whole process.

However don't feel restricted. Make it as colorful and interesting as you want. Show off your personality and have fun!

S.
